How to Clean Your Carpet

Before you head out on your next trip, make sure you take time to clean your carpet. A regular vacuuming is not going to do the trick and you’ll be spending more money and time on a weekly basis because of the cost of carpet cleaning. But, carpet cleaning equipment is much cheaper than the typical commercial cleaning solutions that you find in stores, so don’t let this chance pass you by.

First, use a regular vacuum for carpet cleaning. This is a tool that can lift dirt and debris up off of the floor in a quick and easy manner. If you are working with a really old carpet, you may need to run the vacuum over it for a few times to dislodge any dust or mud that might have built up over time. Use a standard style of vacuum cleaner that uses one or two bags in order to make sure you cover the floor in equal amounts throughout the room.

Cleaning can be done in a couple of different ways depending on the type of cleaning that you need. If you would like to try and remove the stains that have built up on the carpet, then you will want to add a stain remover. This type of cleaner will help you break down stains that may have been around for years.

Water stains can also be removed by simply soaking the carpet in warm water and detergent for several minutes. It is important to note that you should not use harsh chemicals when doing this process because the water and stain remover can actually cause damage to the carpet by eroding its fibers. The best method for getting the water off of the carpet is to take a sponge or piece of cloth and slowly but thoroughly scrub the stain away with the use of either hot or cold water.

Another possible way to clean a carpet is to use steam. Steam is great for removing the smell of cooking, mold, and other mildew from the carpet. All you have to do is get a steamer, fill it with hot water, and then place the carpet in the steamer.

Finally, you can use a carpet sweeper to clean the carpet. This will allow you to remove any loose fibers that are sitting on top of the carpet that are not being caught with the other methods listed above. You can use this carpet sweeper on a little as an entire room if you want to.

When you begin to clean your carpet, take into consideration the color of the carpet and how heavy the buildup is. For example, a red carpet might need a carpet cleaner that is made for red carpets in order to remove the red build up and loosen up the loose fibers. Always go with a brush that is designed for carpeting because it will make the job easier for you.

When you start out the carpet cleaning process, you may find that you need to clean the carpet three times before you can clean it completely. Once you have done this, you can then work on the floor to be sure you are completely satisfied.
